I have relied on Chewy since our local stores stopped carrying pigeon feed. I was thinking that a smaller organization can provide my needs, with good service, at a fair price. I hoped that Des Moines Feed could have been such a place. Their price was very competative and the delivery was timely. However, the packaging was basically a feed bag composed of double-lined paper not much better than wrapping or newspaper. They obviously knew this because the bag had been ripped already and an extremely inadequate swatch of packing tape was applied. The tape must have been terribly expensive because they couldn't afford to use an adiquate amount or application. I carried the bag over my shoulder to my feed barrel and then noticed the issue when I arrived. By that time a fair amount of feed had been lost through the ripping hole. I poured the remaining contents into my barrel and could see that a fair amount of the feed was "dust" and very likely wasted. My concern is that an organization that lacking in customer service and sells equally poor quality feed, has me second-guessing my original decision. Chewy was much better than that.

RARE story of exemplary customer service these days...was running lake in rush hour traffic on a Friday, so I called ahead to see if they'd be open. A guy named Doug answered, and when I shared I was driving in late from Waukee (25 min. in regular traffic), he said, "Don't worry, I'll be here when you get here. Upon arrival, and after my purchase, I thanked Doug and remarked about the store's classic pop dispenser. Knowing I was frazzled, Doug came around the counter, grabbed a bottle, and said, "Hey, this one's on me -- come back and see us again." BLOWN AWAY and WILL be back, thanks to Doug! P.S. Their bird food blends are incredible...

Hands down my favorite place to get my gardening supplies and dog supplies. Great selection of products in general, they also stock awesome soils and related products for gardening. I am pretty partial to the Maine mixed for getting my seedlings in the ground and off to a great start. The staff is excellent and above par, again, I love doing business with them
